The potato can be prepared in endless ways, baked, mashed or boiled. But one of the most comforting ways to enjoy the vegetable is with homemade soup. By adding different ingredients you can create a distinct flavor according to your taste. Some recipes call for ham or bacon, onions or heavy cream. This recipe has added cheese and onions to create a smooth, creamy, comforting soup.

Potato Soup Ingredients
- 4-5 large potatoes
- ¼ celery, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- ½ cup milk
- Salt & pepper
- Shredded cheese
Potato Soup Cooking Method
Peel potatoes and chop, along with the celery and onion.
Put vegetables in a pan, and almost cover them with water.
Bring vegetables to boil, then cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until vegetables are soft.
Mash vegetables with a potato masher.
Add milk to desired thickness.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Pour into serving bowls, and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
