When you think of taco salad, the word healthy might not come to your mind. But you can create a healthy version. When it comes to adding that editable bowl, or chips your salad becomes more filled with calories. But for some, thats what it’s all about. So what else can we do to make the salad more healthy? For one, by using lean, ground turkey breast. But there are other ways too, you can trim your next taco salad while not increasing the preparation time or decreasing the flavor.   • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 taco seasoning pack
  • 1 ½ cups salsa
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 4 cups lettuce
  • 2 cups fat free cheese
  • 1 ½ cups fat free sour cream


1. Spray pan with non-stick cooking spray.

2. Brown turkey.

3. Stir in seasoning pack.

4. Add in salsa, stir, and simmer.

5. While turkey is cooking chop tomatoes, and lettuce into bite size pieces.

6. Divide meat onto plates.

7. Cover meat mixture with vegetables.

8. Sprinkle on cheese.

9. Top with sour cream.
