Spicy Grilled Hamburgers

The term ” Hamburger” originated from name of a German city “Hamburg” but it was actually invented in United States during the last years of 19th century. There are many claims about the invention of hamburger and still its not sure who invented hamburger first.

Today, hundreds of hamburger recipes exist and it is one of most common and popular fast food in all parts of the world. The McDonald’s has largest chain of hamburger restaurants in most of cities around the world.

Usually, hamburger is of round shape but renown restaurant chain Wendie’s make square shape hamburgers and burger kings make it by grilling in stead of frying the patty. Moreover, the popularity of hamburgers inspired chefs to explore several ingredients and add variety to burger recipes. Earlier, only ground beef was used to prepare hamburger patty but now chicken, pork, veggie, herbs etc are used as a basic ingredient in hamburger patty.

The following Hamburger recipe resembles with original ground beef hamburger recipe but with slight variations.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 1/2 tbsp bread crumbs
  • 1 large onion, grated
  • 2-3 medium sized tomatoes, cut into thin round slices
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • Few cheese slices your choice
  • 1 red onion, cut into thin round slices
  • 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato juice
  • 1 Cucumber, cut into thin round slices
  • 1 tbsp jalapeno peppers
  • 1 tbsp pickle of your choice
  • Salt and pepper as per taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • condiments whatever you like

Method:
Put the grill on high heat and oil it lightly. In a large mixing bowl, combine beef, dried bread crumbs, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, grated onion and tomato juice together and prepare small hamburger size round patties out of it. Put the patties over the the grill and cook well for next 10-15 minutes by flipping it both the sides. Apply little butter on the patty while grilling, if desired.
Take round hamburger buns, apply some butter on the base & spread veggies slices, one each.

Then put hot patty over the veggies. next, put cheese slice on the patty and again spread veggie slices, shredded lettuce, some jalapeno peppers and pickle over the cheese. Now add condiments of your choice. Again place the hamburger on the grill for a minute or less just to allow the cheese to melt a bit. Take out the burgers from the grill and transfer it to serving platter. Serve burgers with tomato ketchup or any other sauce you prefer.
