  • 2 tablespoons refined oil
  • freshly chopped basil
  • freshly grated parmesan cheese

Cook time: 1 Hour 30 minutes.

Making of the Bolognese Sauce.

Put a medium pan over heat, and then add the olive oil. Add the chopped onions .Sauté it well, until they change colour. Add the chopped garlic cloves and the minced beef to the pan. Continue frying the minced beef and fry until it is browned. While stirring add some water so that the meat may not get too dry. Also pat the beef crumbles (if crumbles are formed )with the spatula to make it evenly.

Add the celery, pepper and mushrooms to the pan, and lightly fry for a further 5 minutes. Add the oregano, tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, the tomato concentrate, beef stock to the beef mix, and allow simmering for 10 – 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. This is the most important part of this sauce as tomatoes are the key ingredient to add the taste. Pour the red wine for adding extra flavor into the recipe.

Now add the honey and the spices. Let it cook in simmer for an hour. Do not put any lid on the saucepan as we want the sauce to the evaporate water reducing its volume, that makes the sauce tastier. Allow it to cook for a few minutes. The Bolognese sauce is now ready.

Preparing pasta

Take a large sauce pan. Add water into it. Bring it to boil. Keep it for 8 minutes. Then add the pasta into it. Keep it for 5 minutes it it is soft and tender. Now put out the whole lot into a colander or a steel sieve. Turn on the cold water and rinse .Drain the water properly. Put the saucepan onto your gas and add two tablespoons of refined oil. Put the pasta back into the saucepan a fry it up till its well fried. The pasta will taste great only when its just not sticking the pan.

Serve the spaghetti smothered in the meat sauce, preferably with freshly grated parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper sprinkled over the top. Using tongs, take a good amount of cooked spaghetti into a serving bowl. Place an equally generous amount of sauce on top and then finally garnish with some chopped parsley and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

The dish is now ready to be served. Always serve it hot along with red wine which the specialty an Italian delicacy.
