  • 1kg Potatoes
  • 300g Salmon, cod or any other white fish, skinned and bones removed
  • 300g Smoked haddock also skinned and bones removed
  • 125g Prawns shelled and de-veined
  • 1 Finely chopped onion
  • 1 Carrot minutely diced
  • 2 Sticks Celery
  • 100g Button mushrooms
  • A cup of grated cheddar cheese
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 2 Eggs boiled
  • A few sprigs of fresh parsley
  • A little olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 1 Cup double cream (optional)

First get the oven to heat to 450 degrees. In the meantime wash and peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Then in a pan of boiling salted water, drop the cut potatoes and allow to boil for 10 minutes. Drain and keep aside. Also at the same time boil the eggs until they are hard boiled. When done, run them under cold water, peel and chop into chunks.

In a frying pan, pour a little of the olive oil and sauté the onions, carrot, mushrooms and celery until soft. If you wish to add cream, do so at this point and let it come to a boil. Remove from fire and add the lemon juice and the cheddar cheese and you have a fine creamy sauce ready for the fish pie.

In a casserole, mix the salmon, haddock, prawns and the eggs and pour the cream sauce over it. Next, mash the boiled potatoes by adding a little of the remaining olive oil so that it is soft and smooth and add salt and pepper while you do so. After the potatoes are mashed, layer over the fish mixture in the casserole.

Put into the preheated oven and allow to cook for 25-30 minutes at 450 degree Fahrenheit. Remove from oven and decorate with a few sprigs of parsley and serve piping hot with a soup, sesame or any other toast and a fresh green salad. Try this fish pie recipe and see how much you are going to love it. I have tried it many times and I enjoy the flavor of this great fish pie recipe.
