A Banana and Rice Pudding Weaning Recipe

Every mother is concerned about what she should give her baby during weaning, as this is a stage where the baby needs a good amount of nutrition to make up for the reduced milk intake. There are many exciting weaning recipes available and this one is one excellent weaning recipe that is full of nutrition and good flavours. It can be started on your 6 months old baby without any tantrums.

  • 100g small grained rice
  • 200ml milk
  • 2 to 3 whole cardamoms
  • Half banana peeled and mashed

Wash rice and soak in water for 30 minutes. Drain and put into a pan along with the milk and whole cardamoms. Allow it to cook for 30 minutes or until the rice is tender and forms a smooth consistency. If the rice grains are still visibly distinguished, add a little more milk and cook for another 10 minutes. Allow to cool.

When the rice pudding is cool, fish out the cardamoms and discard. Peel the banana and mash only half of it. Take the amount of rice pudding you want to feed your baby and refrigerate the rest. In this bowl of rice pudding, add the smoothly mashed banana and mix well.

Do not put the mashed banana in all of the rice pudding, as banana tends to discolour after a while and this will make the whole rice pudding go brown. Therefore it is necessary to add the mashed banana only to the amount that you want to feed the baby at that particular meal.

This rice pudding recipe is a healthy and filling diet and will keep your baby satisfied for longer hours. So, you do not have to worry about another meal in the next couple of hours.
