Cooking time: 1 hour
Serves: 4

Shepherd’s Pie Ingredients

  • 800g minced lamb
  • 400 g of potatoes, peeled
  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 2tbsp plain flour
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2tbsp olive oil
  • 150g butter
  • 150g hot milk
  • 150g Cheddar cheese, finely grated
  • Salt and pepper

How to cook Shepherd’s pie

1. Preheat the oven to 200C.

2. Add the olive oil to a frying pan and gently soften the onion, carrot and garlic. In the same pan, brown the mince. Put on a slow cooker. Cook for 15 min.

3. Add tomato puree and the flour (this helps to thicken the juices) and stir. Mix well.

4. Meanwhile, boil potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and leave to dry out for a few minutes.

5. Add the butter and the hot milk and mash.

6. Pour the meat into an appropriate sized-dish and spoon over the mashed potato. Grate the cheese on the top.
