Spinach Mashed Potato with Mince Beef

To prepare this dish it’s better to buy floury potatoes.

The best ones are Nadine, Rooster, Saxon and Wilja sorts.If you will use them, you can be sure you will get the smoothest and the tastiest mashed potatoes.

Tips:  Drain the spinach very well and it’s necessary to have a Potato Masher!

Spinach Mashed Potato with mince beef Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 300g mince beef
  • 400g pack chopped tomatoes
  • 6 medium potatoes, cleaned
  • 100ml milk
  • 50g butter, melted
  • 500g frozen spinach; defrosted and drained.
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • Black pepper, salt, olive oil

How to cook Spinach Mashed Potato with mince beef

Boil 500ml of water, then add the potatoes and some salt. Leave until cooked.

Take a frying pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil and ½ of the onion. Fry over a medium heat.

Add mince beef, a bit of salt. Mix and leave for 10 minutes.

Then add the chopped tomatoes, mix and leave for 10-15 minutes over a low heat.

Add some black pepper and mix.

Meanwhile, take another frying pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil, ½ of the onion and the garlic and heat it over a medium heat.

After a few minutes add the spinach and heat over a medium heat for 10-15 minutes.

When potatoes are ready, add the butter and the milk. Then mash potato with the Potato Masher until smooth.

Put Mashed potato on a plate, put mince beef on top of mashed potato. Spinach goes besides the mashed potato. Alternatively you can decorate the plate as per your choice.
