Macaroni and cheese, also know as “mac and cheese” is enjoyed by young and old, all over the earth.

Some may prefer the packaged version. This recipe is for all the “comfort food” lovers out there, who enjoy home cooking. Really this recipe is not that much harder to make than the packaged kind, but so much better. The only extra time is the time it’s baking in the oven, and it’s totally worth it.

Cooking time: 25 minutes
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Serves: 12


  • 16 oz. elbow macaroni
  • ½ cup of butter (one stick)
  • ½ cup of flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, spray large baking dish with cooking spray.

2. Boil macaroni according to the instructions on the package, drain.

3. Slowly melt the butter with the milk, flour, salt and pepper.

4. Add the cheese, and stir until melted.

5. In a large baking dish mix half of the macaroni and half the cheese sauce together, carefully stir.

6. Add the rest of the macaroni on top, cover macaroni with the rest of the cheese sauce.

7. Bake uncovered at 350 for 25 minutes.

8. Homemade Macaroni and Cheese is ready to serve.
