Healthy Cookies

Just because you give up your junk food doesn’t mean you need to give up delicious cookies. This recipe is for healthy cookies. You might say it is the oatmeal cookie gone to the light side. Try it, and I hope it becomes a family favorite as it is in my home. Maybe it’s the melted flavors of nuts, applesauce, and cinnamon, I don’t know. I do know, you would never believe this is such a healthy cookie. About 128 calories each.

Cooking time: 15 – 18 minutes
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 9


  • ¼ cup agave nectar
  • 10 packets of natural sweeteners
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
  • 2 tablespoons almond paste
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup vanilla whey powder
  • 2 cups old fashion oats
  • 1 cup Ocean Spray Craisins (dried cranberries infused with cherry juice)
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, line cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2. Stir together agave nectar, sweetener, flaxseed oil, almond paste, and applesauce.

3. Stir in egg, and vanilla, mix well.

4. Add in wheat flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and whey powder. Mix well.

5. Stir in oats and nuts.

6. Divide into 18 cookies.

7. Flatten cookies with the back of a spoon.

8. Bake for 15- 18 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
