Crispy Shrimps & Bacon Strips in Spicy Barbecue Sauce

Finger food recipes find its possibility in all kind of foods whether its veg or non-veg and in every style of cooking. The simplicity & versatility of finger food recipes make them so special. The following finger food recipe is a perfect homemade snack idea for a evening barbecue party & even for a picnic or camping.


  • For shrimps & bacon strips
  • 25-30 medium sized shrimps
  • 10-15 bacon strips
  • 1 cup ready made / home made barbecue sauce
  • Vegetable oil / canola oil for greasing
  • For Home Made Barbecue Sauce
  • 3/2 cups cider vinegar
  • 16 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 medium sized lemon juice
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp hot red chili powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2-3 tsp hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • Bamboo skewers for barbecuing

Soak the bamboo skewers in the water for about half an hour, it will prevent skewers from catching fire in barbecue.

Although, you can buy ready made barbecue sauce from the store but if you wish, can easily prepare fresh, spicy barbecue sauce yourself at home. To prepare barbecue sauce at home, heat a non-stick saucepan over medium heat. Place all the ingredients together into the saucepan. Stir it until get mixed properly and bring it to boil. Peanut butter should be fully dissolved. Simmer the heat and cook over low heat for about 20 minutes while keep stirring it often. Turn off the heat, pour the barbecue sauce in a bowl and set aside.

Next step is to wash, peel and devein the shrimps. Partially cook the bacon and cut the strips into halves then wrap a shrimp with a bacon strip. Now, thread a shrimp-bacon piece on the skewer and grease it well with the oil using a small barbecue brush.

Follow the same step and thread rest of the shrimps & bacon on the skewers. Place the skewers in the barbecue. Bring shrimps to broil until bacon gets crispy. Apply barbecue sauce and broil it for 2 more minutes. Cook it well by frequently flipping it all the sides until shrimps are properly cooked.
