Double Cheese Burger

Some say the cheese burger came to fame in the 1920’s in Pasadena, California.

The story goes a homeless man made the suggestion to try some cheese on his hamburgers to Chief Lionel Sternberger, while waiting in line for a burger. Others claim different stories, but it boils down to this, we really don’t care, as long as they just keep them coming! The double cheese burger offers 2 slices of cheese, and 2 hamburger patties, a special treat for cheese and meat lovers.

Cooking time: 10-12 minutes
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Serves: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 4 patties
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese
  • 1 slice pepper jack cheese
  • 1 small tomato, sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • Lettuce
  • Mayonnaise
  • 2 hamburger buns

Method

1. Mix beef with salt.

2. Form into 4 patties.

3. Cook patties 5-6 minutes on each side.

4. Place lettuce on the bottom bun.

5. Place 1 patty on top, followed by a slice of cheese.

6. Next put on a second patty, followed by a second slice of cheese.

7. Stack the lettuce, tomato, and onion on top, followed by some mayonnaise.
